Scarred and Wounded

Do you even remember my name?
Or am I just another dame?

Another box to check off of your list?
The memory fading like the mist?

You will never know the depths of the pain you caused,
Because

You fed me your lines,
Thought all was fine.

Got me hooked,
Then you booked.

My wounds are deep,
A chasm not to be leaped.

My scars are fresh,
Marks upon my flesh.

Reminders of the way,
You took off and walked away.

You never even gave a passing glance.
But through my heart went the lance.

I would have given you everything.
All I wanted was just one thing:

To be the one that turned your heart.
Instead all I got was torn apart.

I gave you my heart,
And you ripped it apart.

Why couldn't I be good enough for you?
Was there anything that I could do?

I think what hurts that most,
Is that from coast to coast,

I know deep down,
I admit with a frown,

That as long as the sun rises and falls,
I will love you with my all.
