There is a love from yesterday
that I hold close along my way.
I chose to walk away, without him.
Found a picture from a time
when I longed to make him mine.
But, I could not make him mine, way back then.
So the years have brought my fate
to a long, unending wait.
Waiting for the chance to say all that I feel.
Yet, he's nowhere to be found.
My heart is oh, so sorely bound
To a never-ending dream that seems so real.
My nights are sadly spent
with deep regret and ill intent.
I pray to go to sleep and not awake.
Yet, in the morn I shall arise,
wipe the tears from swollen eyes,
Talk of only what is real, for my own sake.
As for that love so long ago,
why does my heart hold it so
As to never let it go, so easily?
Had it thrived within our hearts,
as one, we'd never part.
Yet, he chose to walk away, without me.
