Your are what you eat. The health of your body depends upon what goes into your mouth. If you eat healthy foods, you will be healthy. If you eat, (I will call it garbage foods) then your body will react to the bad foods and be unhealthy. Everyone desires to have a healthy appearance. Glowing, shining hair, beautiful, bright eyes and pearly white teeth carries a wealth of information about the kinds of food that goes into you body .
The world we live in today goes at such a fast pace. We grab a bite here and there, on the run, not even stopping long enough to enjoy what is being eaten. We are telling our bodies, we don't care about it. "Were going to supply you with low grade fuel and maybe, once a week we'll give you premium". This is not the way our body operates. It needs a continues supply of nutrients to give the body necessary fuel to run on.
To get away from the hectic lunch hour at work , try making yourself a lunch at home, the night before. Make use of whole wheat bread and mustard, if you must have mayonnaise, use low fat and put in a small separate container. Spreading on the bread gives you a soggy sandwich. Use lean meat, or trim excess fat, for the sandwich. Tuna fish or chicken breast with the skin removed, makes a good salad sandwich. Use lettuce, tomato and pickle. This gives you a serving of vegetables. I know onion is tempting. I prefer to leave that off, especially when I'm at work. It tends to linger on your breath. Carrots sticks with low fat ranch dressing is good. Accompany that with celery sticks and peanut butter or squeeze cheese. For fruit, take an apple, banana, or grapes. Include a small piece of cake for your sweet tooth. If your not big on a sandwich for lunch, then try a lettuce salad with small slices of cheese, tomatoes, cucumbers, and an egg, boiled. Have wheat crackers Adults are a great concern in having a healthy body. Children are a greater concern.
Research says that girls as young as five years of age are dissatisfied with their bodies and wish they were thinner. Imagine them saying they would diet if they had to. They are cognizant of the need for a body that does not have to much weight. Everyone should be aware that an overweight adolescent leads to low self-esteem,depression and eating disorder in later life.
The parents should take the lead in setting an example and teaching the child what is good food and what is not. If they do not like school lunches, help them prepare a nutritious and healthy lunch. Lots of ideas can be found at the book store in the cook book isle, also there are many ideas in magazines. Remember, children mimic their parents, if they see you eating healthy then they will eat healthy , as well. Sit down with them and discuss various ways to make lunch time and at home meal time healthier. Use color to make your healthy meal, more pleasing.
Remember, our bodies is God's Temple. We would not want ot offer our bodies, second rate. He deserves the best, therefore, lets keep a healthy body and a clean mind. We get out what we put in.
