The walls seem to rattle
A window is cracked
But my house sits here firmly
It's soul still intact
The stairs now creak loudly
The pictures hang sideways
The roof leaks a little
And this is a good day
As one passes by
They think it's unsound
No flowers are blooming
The shingle's unbound
Some feel it is gloomy
A few feel compassion
Don't pity my cottage
It needs no refashion
Deep inside there is comfort
Safe sound and secure
No torment from weather
Of this I am sure
