Poetry: Starting over

by Kimberlee Decunzo

Come and see, they called to her, come and see the world.
But I don't know what is out there. No one ever told.
Just take a step and you will see, there's nothing to be afraid of, one step and you're free.
Free from what, she would ask them. My fears hold on dear.
Free from yourself, from what you can't see.
I couldn't, I wouldn't, I didn't dare.
Why should I bother, they wouldn't care.
We do care, said the angels, more than you'll need.
But we love you no matter what until you are freed.
What then, she asked them, will you then let me fall?
Never in your worst dreams, you'll get love from us all.
Trembling and crying she stuck out her toe.
She tested the waters and then she froze.
Not out of fear but in disbelief.
The angels weren't lying so she let go of her grief.
She leaned all her weight and tried not to look back.
Come see the world with us you won't ever forget.
That which is past will never fade. Just the feelings that bound us to forever seek praise.
You're up on your own and now you will see. This love has always been here just waiting
come and see..
