The world is full of people with wishes and dreams and aspirations. There are probably a million and one kids on any variable night that wish upon stars and blow dandelions into the gentle breeze sending hopes flying through the air. Every minute a little boy or girls proclaim those dreams to some teacher, friend, parent, or sibiling.
Mom I want to be a doctor when I grow up!
Dad I am going to be the president of the United States!
Mrs. Waverly I want to be an astronaut, a deep sea diver, a NBA superstar, make a billion dollars, own my own company! ! !
Even in this very second there is some adult who is hoping and desiring for more, bigger, better. Dreams float around the endless horizon as clouds drift across the infinite blue expanse of the heavens.
We can't all get what we want.
This is a bitter pill for any dreamer to swallow. The question lingers "Why can't I get what I want".
The reality is it it impossible for everyone to get all the things they desire. We live in a world with limited resources.
There can be only one president. There are limited numbers of NBA stars. There isn't enough funding to send everyone into space. There is not enough money in the world for everyone to be billionaires.
This is not reason to refuse to dream, desire, or wish. Someone will be blessed to be those things or recieve those rewards but just not everyone. This is just not the way the world works.
For there to be rich someone has to be poor. There will never be a sports star without a spectator. A president can not exist without people to lead. Singers must have an audience. To live in beautiful houses someone must maintain them.
To function as a society someone has to be a street sweeper, someone has to collect the garbage, someone has to be the body guard, someone has to be ordinary for there to be those that extraordinary. One can not exist without the other.
Many can not understand that we live in a world of check and balances. They faint and become depressed in that they don't recieve all that they want and desire in life. One must remember this, for everything one achieves someone else misses out.
Take this for an example.
I once went to try out for a role in a play. I wanted this role very much. I thouht I deserved the role. However, I wasn't the only one trying out for that role. The others desired the role just as much as I did. At the conclusion of tryouts I found out that I didn't get the role. I was throughly upset. I balked that the system was unfair and that I deserved the role. I thought of every reason why I deserved it over the others. Then I thought, what if I had got the role? Would not the ones that did not get the role be sayin the same thing. We they not be balking that they deserved the role. Then I realized that the fact of life is their are a limited amount of roles. We can't fill them all. If I filled them all their wouldn't be enough left for anyone else. I would never know gratitude or supportiveness if I had to always be the star.
I say all of this in saying that the world is balanced. Balance does not always tip in our favor. When contemplating this it becomes less of a burden to understand why we can't have everything we want.
That doesn't mean that we can't have some of the things that we want, desire, or wish for but just not all.
