The Seasons of my Memory
The tapestry of life weaves through the seasons that we pass.
Like autumn leaves caught in the wind the images are cast,
They find a place to light upon, and dance before our thoughts,
tracing through our memories, they twirl and then are caught.
It wasn't spring that lingered near the windows of my mind;
nor sunlit days along the way to find this heart of mine.
So often when I glance to see the journey of my years;
I find myself quite sad that time has seen my lonely tears.
It seems that as the gray appears, and age I feel each day;
that few can understand, sometimes I grieve the years and say,
"It was but yesterday that I was happy; wasn't I?"
Such times I see as shadows, and they dim before my eyes.
I was supposed to find myself, though lost I feel today;
and love was to have cushioned me to blow the clouds away.
How is it that alone I sleep, an empty space beside my place
and miss the pleasure of the loving with tears upon my face.
I wonder if I touched the dew of morning new each day;
to hear the bluebirds sing their song, and dance along the way.
I wonder if the taste of honey on my tongue so sweet,
would show me that it is the journey that I now must seek.
The pathways that we walk upon have lessons we must learn;
sometimes it is through suffering, God's heart does truly yearn
to show us that beneath the leaf, there is such beauty there;
to watch a fawn begin to stand, and prance midst nature's lair.
So as I see the days pass by, new meaning I will see,
that even though I am alone, a friend He walks with me.
today I cherish moments new that youth could never know;
it takes a seasoned eye to catch the rose at sunset's glow.

Mother Made Me Burn
My Father's Picture
She stood behind me,
poked her finger
into my back.
Do it. Do it.
I struck a match.

Both with wrinkles on face, and silver their hair
Back and forth they rock,

I have carried with me,
through every town I chose to flee
into every house I tried to make my home
the only thing that
YOU CAN'T FORGET
You hold your chin up,
higher than you should...
you have so much more pride,
than I ever could.
You walk so
Whisper wind, through the remaining chimes
distant, weak.
The house is peeling, like my skin
The sun is blaring, like my mind.
