2005-2007 I was a Cena hater like a lot of other people, every time he would appear on my TV screen I had to look away. I couldn't stand to see him at all, it's not as if I didn't try to like him during them years, it's just every time I did he did something else that made me think he was a pathetic excuse of a wrestler.
But something made me change my overall opinion on John Cena; I got a lot more knowledgeable in wrestling I got a lot wiser. And I realized that John Cena is a superstar he has some key elements that a wrestler needs to be a success, and to be considered a "superstar". And also when trying to prove whether someone in wrestling is great for wrestling itself is a difficult thing unless you have statistics, to back up your claim.
In terms of the main things that a wrestler must require to be a success, this has changed throughout the years. During the beginning of wrestling all the way through to the mid 80's and maybe even further depending on which aspect you look at, to be a success in wrestling at that time you needed to have great wrestling ability, great in ring psychology. All in all you had to be a pretty polished wrestler that can wrestle up to 60 minutes with a lot of holds involved because that's what wrestling was back then.
But here we are in 2008 and wrestling has evolved so much over the years that how technically sound or how scientific you are in the ring don't really reflect how much of a success you will become. In some cases it doesn't matter how technically gifted you are, because that isn't a key element required to be main eventing the biggest PPV's or winning the major championships.
Really the most important skills a wrestler needs to be successful are Mic Skills, Charisma and a great work ethic. I am not saying that wrestling skills are not needed they are but not to the extent that most people believe. The 3 key elements I mentioned John Cena has all of them.
Mic Skills: In the past it has been proved that Cena has the ability on the microphone to get a crowd pumped up. He handles himself very well on the microphone, and is able to be varied on the Mic unlike a lot of wrestlers who tend to stick to one catchphrase and continue with the normal generic stuff they do. And better yet he gets a reaction out of the crowd which is the whole purpose of being a wrestler. Negative or positive reaction is what a wrestler aims to do and John Cena achieves this every single time he is cutting a promo.
Charisma: Charisma is basically an
