Poetry: My son

MORNING FRENZY

Wake up I said it's time for school
Getting a tardy isn't so cool

Just a few minutes more said my son
In just 5 more my sleep should be done

You know its morning time rush
So, jump up right now and first you must brush

Not just your teeth but also your hair
Don't give me that look as if who cares

I can't sleep anyway when you are hyperventilating
So here I am up to help you regain breathing

Could you help me pick what I should wear
At my choice he said.. no way! I would not dare

Though peeved I ignored his provoking comments
Clock was ticking away for fruitless arguments

What would you like for breakfast this morning
Do I have to eatoh that's so boring

You have no choice so eat you must
I'll make you some toast , you cant leave out the crust

I said toast, he said, no, can I have a waffle
I said we have orange juice, he said, no, can I have apple

If I say north, must you always say south
Just for once can't you zip up your mouth

Did you pack your books and your folder
Did you put in the calculator and calendar

Its not stroll time.. come on giddyup
Miss the bus and I'll get all worked up

Aren't you already worked up he mumbled
Yes I am, its past 8.30 I grumbled

Put on your shoes and not without socks
Mama! shoes without socks really rocks

Rocks and rolls and may be it does more
For now just put it on and step out that door

We waited in the stand just the two of us
Quite sure by now that he did miss the bus

Now to drop him to school my car I had to take
I drove as if it had no brakes

Finally we reached the school parking lot
Why are there no more cars, together we thought

He spoke in a tone, I call bridled yelling
Mom you hauled me to school on a Sunday morning !

I felt really sorry to drag him out of bed
Tell me , how do I make it up to you I said

I could see the smug smile on his face
To have won a point over me in this case

If I ask for something will you promise to give me
It's not your birthday, but if you are rational , I guarantee

My play station is old can u get me a ps3
What! 400 dollars for waking you up early

Do you think you are being reasonable here I ask
But it's the "Sunday morning sleep" you did'nt let me bask

I only have 50 guilty dollars honey
The rest we can deduct from your pocket money

That's not a fair deal , you spoilt my funday
Tomorrow will be another manic Monday

Emotional blackmail .. now please don't bother
You may be smart but I am still your MOTHER!
