Absolutely, without exception, every woman deserves the basic right to decide to abort her unborn child.
We have millions of children born to the world who are unwanted. Even more are wanted, then neglected. There is nothing more heart wrenching than to hear of another child abused. What is even more devestating, is the amount of cases that go unreported.
Why is it that we jump up and down, and protest with such vehmenant conviction when a woman decides to end her pregnancy - yet we sit in silence, and say and do nothing, whilst millions of children who are born to this world, are violently and horrificly abused?
When we are struggling to provide a safe and acceptable existence to so many children as it is, why increase this problem by condemning more children to this life?
There is one thing I could promise you - that is that no woman, in her right mind or otherwise, would choose to abort her unborn baby just for the sake of it.
This procedure as I understand it, it an incredibly invasive, emotional and awful experience -
Any woman who finds herself undergoing this procedure has no doubt experienced much sould searching, and perhaps much pain in coming to this decision...not often would this step be taken lightly.
Women who do make this choice, deserve privacy and respect for their own decisions.
There are many reasons one may choose this option. Who would dare tell a traumatised woman, that she must birth and raise a child that was concieved through violent rape?
Should a woman be forced to continue to carry, labour, and give birth to a baby that has been diagnosed with extreme physical defects, only to have that baby die shortly after birth - a prognosis that she was well aware of three months prior?
Religion is often cited as a arguement against abortion. Although an enquiring mind might ask; if God is all of life, and we can never die, then when an abortion is performed, what happens to that soul? Is it a case of "well, sorry jim but you missed the boat, no life experience for you!"
I think not.
I choose to believe that as we can never really die, then you can't really murder an unborn soul...perhaps the soul that was to become that physical body will just gracefully accept that they should move on to the next vessel available to them? Perhaps they will wait in the wings, until a time and place that their chosen mother is able to bring them forth into this life?
Every woman, as a human being, has the right to decide to abort.
