Like everyday she opened her door, and gazed out, to see what was going on. She had been in this place for over a year. No one came to visit, and no one phoned. How did this come about? Perhaps she would go walking, and do what? No where to go, and not enough money, even for a cup of coffee. Besides she hated doing things alone. She was a normally happy person, but a person can only take so much. With her husband at work, and living in a hotel, she had to obey rules, Here you could not open your window, or door, and one had to be quiet, so as not to disturb anyone. With no family in the state, and no real friends, she decided to once again turn to her only friend, a book. Thanks goodness she had that to keep her amused. Not a person to let life get her, , still some days she often wonder , when would things would get better. She got to wondering what would have happened if she had chosen another road. Oh well , no use crying over spilled milk. She had her church friends , but hey they had families, jobs, and cars. It sure was difficult not being able to drive any place. When her husband was off work, he was tired. He just wanted to sleep or play on the computer. Well she could not blame him. He was the only one working after all. He tried, but they never had enough, enough of anything money, food. When she was growing up, she had friends, and a life. She went places, did things, and enjoyed friendships.. The holidays were lovely. But not any more. Again the money, and with the kids grown and living far away, what was the point
Being depressed and sometimes lonely, she often asked God, why is it that I cannot be happy? I don't ask for much, maybe a friend to spend time with. Maybe a chance to go out and enjoy the weather, and have a coffee. The holidays were coming up, but again there would be no special dinner, with friends and family. There would be nothing much at all. Each year it seemed to get worse. Last year there was a tree, well a shrub, and not real. But this year, nothing. Gosh, she used to be cute, but stress and not eating right had taken its toll. Her family did call, once a year maybe. If she did nothing to upset them. Btu they did not share her strong emotions about Christmas, or other holidays. They did not celebrate them, or her faith.
After twenty years she thought she would be in a home, and have a dog, a flower garden and a little happiness. Now she's in a hotel suite. That's what happens when you loose a job, and everything you
own. Then you are forced to take a much less paying job. No home, no dog, no anything, except what will fit in the room. Loneliness can hit hard, and by surprise. But believe me it can hit anyone at any time.. Life is not always pleasant. We all can fell it, and we all have to find our way out. Sometimes it helps to vent, but hey I you need someone to vent to, right?
Oh well maybe tomorrow it would get better, and she could smile again, and put aside her loneliness. After It was the weekend, and church. She would be happy for awhile, in Gods house, her father and friend. She could smile, and remember that life could be much worse. Hey it had been.
