Once upon a time, I had a boyfriend who decided to go snooping in my purse when I was out of the room. Unfortunately for him, I walked in and caught him red handed. I promptly grabbed my pursed, kneed him in the groin and went home. The cardinal rule for just about every female I know is never go into a woman's purse unless she gives you permission.
Our purses are our treasure troves, full of the things that define us as who we are. If you don't believe me, see below for an in dept analysis.

The Fashionista's Purse

This is usually a designer clutch or hobo bag. It is the latest style for the season, and incredibly expensive. Regardless of the size, it is jammed packed with all the things that a perfectly coiffed woman requires. There are several high end lipsticks, lip glosses, a compact embellished with the Chanel logo, blotting papers (no fashionista is ever shiny), Gucci sunglasses, and a blackberry or PDA. The Fashionista purse can be found on the passenger seat of a luxury automobile next to a very small canine named Sugar, Muffin or Peaches.

The Mom' Purse

This is usually an oversized purse that more closely resembles a duffel bag than a purse. It is designed for function rather than fashion. The contents of a mom purse include but are not limited to: straws, band aids, lollipops, sun block, an extra pair of socks, Kleenex, extra strength Tylenol and hand sanitizer. Mom purses can be found in minivans, shopping carts and on park benches. Please note that mom purses are not diaper bags. Diaper bags may be used as a mom purse but they are two very different things.

Teenage Girl's Purse

This is usually a knap sack with a small hand held purse called a tiny tote. The knap sack is used to carry the bigger items, primarily used for school related activities. And the tiny tote is used both a scholastic and social setting. The knap sack contents are usually books, lunches, and shoes. The tiny tote generally contains several relatively inexpensive drug store brands of lipstick, lip gloss, eye shadow, an ipod or MP3 player, a cell phone and limited amounts of cash. These purses are usually found in shopping mall food courts, arcades and movie theatres.

Professional Woman's Purse

This is usually a practically sized purse with a comfortable shoulder strap; it fits perfectly on the top of a travel suitcase with wheels or can easily be carried with a lap top bag. This purse is both fashionable and practical. Its contents include but are not limited to: a day planner, several pens, a Blackberry or PDA, a compartmentalized wallet with corporate card, a business card holder and a cosmetic bag with several reasonably priced lipsticks, a compact with a mirror and a hairbrush. This purse can be found in the back seat of a four door sedan or in the bottom drawer of a desk.

These are just a few examples of the diversity that exists between purses. The list goes on and on but I hope that this gives you a better understanding of why my purse is so important to me.
