Twenty-four years old or twenty-four young thats the age he was when he passed away,
another addict losses his life in the most common way.
His jokes, his laughter, his willing to go the extra mile,
Roger was a friend of mine who would bring anyone a smile.
He had a problem many never knew he had,
only it was a problem that left many so sad.
He began using at an early age,
battled sometimes with fits of rage.
People said, "oh he's just an only child",
every one around knew he was wild.
He dated girls one after the other,
lied to everybody (even his mother),
Broken promises time after time,
"I'm sorry" often became his favorite line.
Still he was my friend and everyone will miss him so,
he was someone I'll miss the most.
A drug overdose took his life,
another addict died this night.
When does it end?
24 yrs old and he was my friend.
Whats his mother to think now, she did all she could?
or will her life haunt her with the answer,"I'm no damn good"
Drug addiction at its best,
Sends ones soul to forever rest.
It hurts everyone involved,
It leaves problems unsolved.
To my friend Roger I wish there was something I could've done,
after all you were more than my friend you were my one and only son.

"Dad" An Addict's Life
Our poor dad, he looks so frail
It really is such a shame.
His mind is now gone,
He doesn't even know
"dead ends"
what was it like to sleep with
your head on subway stairs and
your hair tangling with the days
unwashed
skin hugging
Gone Again
So, again you're gone from my life,
gone like a thief in the night.
You get to hide in numbness,
I get to live with

WASTED GIRL
She stood outside the motel room,
her head resting wearily on the door.
Her skin was pale and blue-veined,

"The Other Side"
The waters where I tread are dark and cold.
Filled with sadness and miseries untold.
My plight seems so hopeless
