Having an addiction to something that requires a person to spend a lot of money or to think about nothing else but. Like gambling, Alcoholism and drugs. Most people think that the homeless are on the streets because of one of these three reasons. Not a good way to go, unfortunately that doesn't mean that it does not happen.

Your children are big money eaters. Of course they are cute and yours for the rest of your life and will rely on you even when they grow into adults. And may you be financially ready for them or not. They are going to cost you a lot of money. So the more you have the more expenses you will incur. May it be a need for them or a want because their friends have that same toy, shoes or computer game. Don't forgot the parental obligation to pull your kids out of financial debt that they accumulated through lack of experience or not listening to the sound advise that you would have given them before they left your home and live their lives in the real world.

Then there is going out for a good time, getting drunk and before you know it. You wake up in the morning and realise that you spent all your money in one night. This can easily happen and this is also from experience.

Honestly the list goes on, but the one thing a person needs to be careful of is being aware that you are doing it. It's the first step to try and counter act your ability to lose your money gained. Even learning from it.
