How many people have no health insurance

In todays world, where you never know what can happen to anyone anytime, health insurance is really important.

However, many people are not in a position to afford health insurances. Those of us who are employed in good companies like the software firms, definitely get paid well and even if a portion of their salary is deducted in the name of insurance,it doesn't matter.

Whereas, the common man who doesn't get paid so well would rather save on that very amount that his company would deduct in the name of insurance. But what most people fail to understand is that when they get their insurances from their companies it is a better deal than going to get it individually where the premiums are much higher.

Insurance is a must as you never know how much you will end up paying if god forbid you fall sick.In this world where the cost of living is high, even hospitals are very expensive in terms of treatments and though there are payment plans available, it is always easier on the pocket when you copay on an insurance policy one holds. Many people fail to understand that by saving that small amount which may seem big for them at that time when compared to the bills that pile up when they fall sick thinking that when they never fall sick all year round except for colds and flu,why should they pay a premium every month.

There still are more than one billion people all over the world who do not have the means to get treatment. When a person does not have health insurance and is sick he will tend to cure himself by self medication which hardly works when they have more serious issues due to health negligence and could lead to far more serious consequences leading to more complications and as a result more advance treatments. It is then that they realize if only they had been going to their doctor for regular check ups they could have avoided the deterioration that happened like a chain smoker could avoided his lungs from deteriorating when he goes to visit the doctor to get treatment due to cough.A person addicted to alcohol can avoid his liver damage upon timely action.A person with a heart problem can save himself from blocked arteries if he goes for routine checkups where he will be monitored and can get the bypass surgery done saving his life. All these treatments cost money and a person without insurance ends up filing bankruptcy as they have bills over due.

Even prescription drugs that are needed for their treatment are expensive and without an insurance to copay,is skyrocketing.

Many people do qualify for Medicaid, they are lucky and it is those of us that do not qualify that have to get it from elsewhere. It is important but as the cost of living has increased and everything from food, rent, utilities to basic necessities such as phone, cable are no longer easy on the pocket for people like us who earn just enough to make two ends meet.

Even then I feel that we should spare some amount from the very little that we already have to save our lives and to keep our body tuned up just as we would keep our car serviced and up to date.

After all,Health is wealth. If we keep our body up to date with timely servicing in the name of medical checkups we can avoid unseen medical conditions and in order to do this we need insurances.

I just hope every individual can afford an insurance and they end getting one as it really will save the day!
