Poetry: Mistakes

by Hermes Roberts

Created on: September 23, 2008

I make so many foolish mistakes,
It worries me so, it makes my head ache.
I forgot the alarm, so I got to work late.
I was in such a haste on another work day,
That the color of each shoe was hard to compare.

I think I am the world's worse cook,
It makes no different if I follow the cook book.
The custard I made came out like glook.
In the cake, I put too much baking soda.
The cookies so hard, that I broke a molar.

My doing the laundry wasn't much better,
Putting bleach in the wash, the colors it alter.
The clothing shrunk, it was quite a bother.
The iron was too hot for my silk shirt,
I also burnt a hole in the matching skirt.

I think I know what I should do,
I'll think things through, that's my due,
And in this way, my mistakes should be few.
I know something special is happening today,
I'll be on time for work, that is clear.
