sides and above too, not knowing when you will be let out again, too hot or too cold, and alone.

Perhaps you will come back with the excuse that at least the dog is safe, not able to chew through an electric cable for instance, or chew something that will make him sick or make you sick. Ok fine, so put him/her somewhere with his/her own toys to chew or play with in a restricted room or area but please oh please not caged.

I have had many dogs, I have puppy walked for the Guide Dogs for the Blind and I have had a rescue dog too, but I do not cage my dogs and I will adamantly refuse to do so. None of them have ever come to any harm from not being caged. Cages are cruel and unnecessary.
I currently have a beautiful chocolate labrador, who sleeps contentedly in the hall way, away from any possible draughts and has one or two toys to play with if she wants them, both overnight and when I go out, she was shown from an early age that she could chew her toys but not anything of mine, and she has never been cruelly treated to reinforce this, I simply said "No" if she went for anything not hers and good girl when she chose hers, she learnt very quickly and happily.
The hallway is wide enough for her to turn around easily, and long enough for her to get up and walk around whenever she wants, she also has clean fresh drinking water and a duvet to sleep on, snug and cosy, happy but not caged.
