It is fun to get messy especially when doing art with kids. Nothing could ever pay the smiles in the innocent faces of these children and nothing could even surpass the enjoyment of being beside these kids. It is a fun way to spend time with children by doing some art activities since this could be an avenue to spend quality time with them that they will never forget for the rest of their lives.
Doing art with these kids does not need to involve much money. As long as you know how to make use of some available materials in your house, it would already help you get going. One cheap and enjoyable art that kids can do is finger painting. This would really make you messy so prepare to have enough energy in cleaning the mess after the activity.
When doing finger painting, you do not need to buy expensive paint since you could make them just by utilizing the things that you have in your kitchen. It would surely save you a lot of money by making use of available materials right from your very own kitchen.
INGREDIENTS
To make a finger paint, you need 1 tablespoon sugar, teaspoon table salt, cup cornstarch, 2 cups water and some food coloring of your choice. You could use the primary colors as food colorings and you could just mix some colors later since they could produce more colors like for example, red and blue would become violet. I am sure that you have these ingredients in your house so you could start right away.
MATERIALS NEEDED
Most, if not all, of the materials needed to make the paint is already available in your house. You need some kitchen wares like cooking pot, stove, mixing spoon, apron, empty plastic containers and pot holder. It is advisable to use some old kitchen wares and the mixing spoon to be used should be made of wood as much as possible.
STEPS IN MAKING THE FINGER PAINT
In the cooking pot, you mix the cornstarch, sugar and salt. Then you put the cold water and put the pot in a low heat stove for about 5 minutes or until you see that the mixture turns to gel. You then let the mixture to cool first. After it has cooled down, you can put the gel into plastic containers. You could then add food coloring of your choice in each plastic container so that you could make many colors.
THE ART OF FINGER PAINTING
There are a lot of ways on how you could use the finger paint. However, the most basic thing is for you to make an art in and bond paper. You could teach and guide the kids to paint on the paper according to what they want to paint. This would surely be an enjoyable experience for you and the kids.
