THE BEST FRIEND

every person he met,
never measured up,
to her.

every time he was with a girl,
her hair,
her eyes,
her lucious lips,
came into his mind.

every person he met,
had a flaw.
every person he met,
had the wrong skin.
every person he met,
left the stench of disappointment.

she was perfect-
made him laugh;
made him cry;
fell asleep beside him.

she ha only one
disappointing flaw-
she up and left while he was sleeping;
never left a note.

It has been three years-
no other girl has come close.
for she was his best friend;
even though she left,
no one can replace her.

a best friend-
comes only once.
a best friend-
remains a best friend.
a best friend-
stays in his heart;
even when she is his
biggest disappointment.
