Being a writer is hard work. It takes dedication, an excellent knowledge of the language, and plenty of rejections just to get to the place of acknowledgment by your peers. Being a academic ghost writer has the same end as a student who writes his or her own paper, a grade.

However, the ghost writer must first consent to allowing someone else to use their intellect and writing skills as the other person's own. Not only are they using these skills but they claim they have come from their brain and they have studied long and hard to learn this ability, the ability to write. The question is "is using an academic ghost writer dishonest", and the answer is yes on both sides.

It is, first of all, wrong to have someone else write any academic paper for you. When you were in middle school, junior high and high school this type of writing was done under the table and usually for money, because of bullying or just to fit with the "in crowd". It was called cheating if your were caught and an excellent paper if your weren't. A teacher might wonder how a student suddenly became so brilliant and was able to write such an excellent paper, however, the teacher doesn't know the student had someone else write it so suddenly we have a genius in our midst. This does not help the student, it does not teach better learning ability and it certainly doesn't deserve any grade whatsoever.

Both parties have cheated. The student by asking and then submitting as his/her own work the work of someone else. This is plagiarism or just plain lying. The writer is cheating the student by doing the work. The skills it takes to write a paper is something learned and taking this learning away from another person is theft of knowledge. You may think your are doing the student a favor or you might say you are learning too but in truth you haven't done a thing to help the student or yourself. What you have done is allow another person to go through life without learning.

There are many sites on the Internet where you can advertise for a ghost writer for just about any kind of writing. Having subscribed to quite a few of these sites to write, hoping to better hone my skills, there are many people asking for writers for academic work, ghost writers for term papers and every request that comes to me is deleted because it is imperative that a student of learning be able to write his own work and not use the hand of any other person. These people must be educated or why give them a degree, the person responsible for all the writing is the one who should receive the degree. How would you feel if a doctor, dentist, veterinarian or attorney had all his work done for him by someone else? How comfortable would it be to sit in court with a Lawyer who did not know anything about the proceedings? (I've met a few.)

Students, take the time to study you will be gratified in the end and greatly appreciated at the beginning.
