Ode to Kelly the Wonder Dog
Old and smelly
With a lump on the side of your belly
Full of life, full of fun
Still full of thoughts of being young
See off the cat
Don't let Minnie sit on your mat
Friend of Cello
Our funny little ginger fellow
Black and brown and grey in between
A finer dog there never has been
You had to leave us today
Soxy T Pussycat wanted you to come and play
In Soxy's capable paws we will leave you
Even though it has caused us to grieve you
Kelly the Wonder Dog, you were friendly to the end
And even after the end, you remain my best friend.
Author's note: Kelly was my corgi cross dog, who sadly died on 22 September 2008 as a result of a large lipoma that bleed. She was 15 years old and had been rescued by my family as a young dog from Peninsula Animal Aid, Redcliffe, Queensland, Australia.
