It's dark outside; all of the neighborhood's houses are quite, except yours. Apparently you've encountered a dreaded situation in which it's up to you to entertain a gang of critical, annoyed and whiny kids. These stories almost never end well.
Let's take a step back.
When kids get hard, it's for a reason. Unlike adults, kids are not likely to be mean out of spite or dislike to you. When they aren't nice it's probably because they're tired, unattended or bored. Here are a few fun games that will keep them to busy to be a nuisance.
1. "witch of darkness"
This is a very fun game that every kid would bag to play at any chance once he knows it. This game takes place in a pitch black room (preferably with no expensive breakables). on of the kids is the "witch" and he is turned around himself in the middle of the room a few times so he doesn't know where he is (if isn't pitch black, he should wear a blind fold). his goal is to feel around in the dark until he catches someone. then, he must guess by touching who is that person. if he guesses correctly, that person joins him in his searches. kids are usually surprisingly quit in this game.
2. Scary story
Not so much a game but also something everyone (including you) would enjoy and tell all their friends that weren't there of how they missed out. All you need is a flashlight and a story. If you want to go the extra mile, spooky related drawings on the wall which you'll light with your flashlight at the right time can only add. At the rest of the time, the flashlight should light your face from under your chin to give you a scary look.
Here's a nice story you can use. (It's in short because it's much better to improvise rather than remember every detail)
A girl walk with her father to a spooky store (it's raining) and buys a pretty doll called Dolly.
She puts the doll in the living room and goes to sleep. At 11:59pm there's a loud noise (window opened, dogs...) that then stops. She hears singing. "Dolly is climbing up the stairs; Dolly is coming to kill you now" (very high spooky voice). When dolly comes, on of her arms is black. The girl calls her dad and he fixes the Doll. The next night they put Dolly in a closed box, but it happens again only this time Dolly's two hands are black. The third night Dolly is completely black, and the girl asks her in a shivery voice "Dolly, why do you want to kill me?" and then you scream as hard as you can "BECAUSE!"
(important: sing the song every time!)
