If you are reading this article, you are probably more interested in reading how to get into the movie business rather than how difficult it is. You know the challenges, so now you need to learn the steps.

The movie industry is a fortified giant. You cannot break into it without someone who knows his way around. This man is your agent. Many people who try to create success on their own fail miserably, your agent is there to stop that from happening. Those of you who think an agent is an unnecessary aspect of your career, you are sorely mistaken. Remember, an agent makes money from you only if he gets you the job. Getting your agent is one of the more difficult things in starting your film-acting career, however, theater is a great way to enter the entire business. You can audition for plays and shows without an agent, as well as short films for festivals. Many agents scout talent at plays and if you are not represented and have the talent they are looking for you have a good chance of being picked up. Remember to have a recent resume as well as head-shots, they will be necessary for both auditions and agents. You may have to participate in many plays and films before you can find someone to represent you, but just remember that everything you do brings you a step closer to your goal. Keep auditioning and learning new skills, the more on your resume the better.

If someone wants to represent you, make sure you research their experience and legitimacy. There are many frauds out there, make sure you are careful. Once someone contacts you, make it known exactly what you want to do in the industry. There are many different aspects, you need to make it clear what you favor.

Once you have an agent, he will provide you with auditions. Make sure you are not dressed in clothes you just painted the house or gardened in, the first thing they notice about you is how you look. DO NOT FORGET YOUR RESUME AND HEAD-SHOTS, you will not get the gig without them, end of story. And last but not least; go, do your best, and the rest should take care of itself. Remember, just because you found someone to represent you doesn't mean you made it to the big times yet. Continue doing small plays and short films, the experience will keep adding up. Also, if your agent does not contact you for awhile, make sure to show your face once in awhile. Bring in new head-shots or call him. Good luck!
