I love the use of gag gifts to lighten the mood of parties or celebratory dinners. Of course this is when gag gifts remain that and are not taken to an extreme. I will give my gag gift with an accompanying actual gift to take any sting off that might accidently occur in my judgment of the recipients humor.

A gag gift that left us all quietly chuckling throughout the evening was given at my brother in laws fiftieth birthday celebration dinner. A concerned neighbor handed him two beautifully gift wrapped presents. One turned out to be a box of male Depends and the other gift was a cane. Being a fellow with a wee smidge of a warped sense of humor, the neighbor was not just

Satisfied to give these gag gifts; he had to give explicit instructions as to their proper usage. His wonderful sense of humor and unusual gifts made the evening a success.

My golfing brother has received, oversized golf balls, wobbly golf balls, talking golf balls, stuffed golf buddies, golf crying towel and other such amazingly silly golf gifts.

I have one gift that I give to a friend of mine each year that the gag is actually in the shape of the gift that I purchase for her each year. Her birthdays are always held in a public place such as a restaurant or pub so this adds to the excitement of a presumed embarrassing gag gift. She is single and has been for many years and my gift is always with the accompanying comment that she needs my gift to improve her foul mood. (Okay so I admit that she and I have a long standing love - hate relationship). Each year as I had her the approximately twelve to fourteen inch long slim rectangular box, I do it with a huge grin plastered on my face and the threat that this is the year she is getting what she really needs for her birthday. She has received a long wooden incense box, incense, swizzle sticks, a hand crocheted beaded doily wrapped around a paper towel roller and other such shaped gifts but so far not the one gift that she has been expecting to receive each year.

For singles of either sex there are any number of slightly suggestive gifts from rubber dolls, to coffee mugs and banks that come in any number of suggestible images. For thin girls there are fake rubbery breasts, and for the guys "male enhancement kits. As for myself and my friend, well maybe next year my friend will receive the gift that she keeps expecting from me, we have a number of birthdays yet to share!
