Ways of keeping track of the food you eat

Food Diaries and Journals

Most of the time people do not realize how many calories they are actually eating each day. The reason they do not know is because when you are not keeping a food log or food diary of some sort it is easy to mindlessly eat food without realizing what or how much food you are actually consuming.

Keeping a food diary is relatively easy. There are a variety of ways to do this. Thanks to the internet there are even more ways to track food and calories than ever before.

The Old Fashioned Way:

All you need to keep a paper record of daily food intake is a notebook/journal and an ink pen. This is done by writing down all food eaten as soon as you eat it. I like to track calories also so I tend to add the calories next to the food then at the end of the day I tally the calories so I can track my daily caloric total.

Online Food Diary:

In order to track daily food intake online you will need a computer and internet service. If you have these, you can find many online fitness sites that have online calculators that help you figure out how many calories you need to eat along with online food diaries to track your daily intake. Some of these diaries will even figure your calorie intake for you.

Glamour has a fitness site called Body by Glamour, which offers online food diaries that are free and relatively easy to use. Cites such as Spark People, Self and many others also offer helpful tools and diaries that are free to use by simply signing up. These are only a few of the many websites that offer fitness calculators, online forums for motivation, food diaries, workout logs and more.

Computer Programs:

Thanks to computer software, programs you can download onto your computer you can now track your calories with the ease of computer assistance without ever going online. Weightmania Pro is a software program that can be downloaded for $60.00. Using weightmania pro, you can easily keep track food intake, nutrition, daily calories and exercise.

The Food and Exercise Dairy 5.0 is touted as a weight loss and exercise dairy as well as being a medical diary. This software appears to have detailed easy to read charts. The download appears to be free, however, in order to use the software you will have to purchase an unlock code.
