Over the years, I have owned both a Mac and a Dell computer. I have used them both and have definitely found Macs to be better for students. I am a student myself and find having a Mac to be so helpful for me and my schoolwork.

Before I got a Mac, I assumed everything I had heard about them were simply Mac crazed people stretching the truth. Then one day, my trusty Dell died. I went to Best Buy with the firm intention to buy a notebook PC. However, as I was walking over there I noticed the Macbook. I thought to myself "I should go and check this out, to see what all of the fuss is about. That's when I got hooked.

The Mac was easily faster then any PC I had ever been on, and got to websites so much faster thanks to its 802.11n wireless capabilities. It also had applications built right in which quickly and easily assisted me in moving my old PC files over to my new Mac, organized my calendar / schedule, imported my iTunes, and all I had to do was click OK. Since buying this computer I have received only one compatibility issue- watching movies on TNT.com. There haven't been any other problems about opening websites, word documents, or videos elsewhere and I am very happy with it. And of course, the calling card to get a Mac- no viruses! Plus, Apple.com will give you a free antivirus called avast! just to show you that your new apple computer is virus free.

I have used my computer for schoolwork, and for personal use. Another reason to buy is because of all of Mac's great features! It has a built in iSight camera, enabling you to have 2 or 3 way video conferencing (hassle free) right out of the box. The macbook pro also features an ambient, light sensing keyboard which automatically glows the appropriate amount in any lighting. Are you sick of stepping on your power cord and sending your laptop flying? That won't happen on a Macbook. The Macbook features a magnetic power cord which automatically breaks off without damaging the computer if it is ever stepped on or bent. Also, with a student Microsoft office package from Microsoft, you can be sure that your computer will have the right software for school. Integrated software such as Bonjour makes connecting to things a snap, and makes working with a computer an altogether more enjoyable experience.

Although I have no problems with a PC, I would definitely choose a Mac as a student. Since I have tried both, I would not switch back to PC now. I am very happy with my choice of a Mac computer. It has helped me stay productive with school and my grades have definitely improved since buying my macbook.
