When is a teen ready for sex?

hundred years, biology remains a constant. It is something that just cannot be changed or altered in any way. This can lead us into a turmoil of emotions when we arrive at puberty. Our bodies are telling us that we are ready for sexual activity, but today's society dictates that we are not.

Another consideration is that people are living so much longer in today's world. Because the life span of the average human was between 40 and 50 years of age in past history, it became a necessity for the survival of the human race to marry young and start a family. Today, people are more educated, healthier and living well into their 80's and 90's. There is so much more time for the average person to plan out their life's goals and personal desires.

No, teens are definitely not ready for sexual activity in today's society. There is the possibility of unplanned pregnancies that can drastically change the course of one's future goals in life. There is always the possibility of contracting life-threatening, sexually transmitted diseases if you are unaware of your partners past sexual history. There are factors in today's society that just are not conducive to dealing with the many consequences of sexual activity. As a teenager, you are not yet even prepared to commit yourself and your entire life to a monogamous, lifelong relationship.

As a teen, you still have plenty of life ahead of you. Strive for goals of higher education, a career that you will enjoy, experiences and achievements that will enhance your life. These things will leave you with lasting memories that you can look back on with the pride of accomplishment. There is plenty of time for sex when you know what it is that you truly want out of your life.

Sex is only a small part of what becoming an adult is all about. My advice to teenagers is not to limit yourself to that one aspect of what growing up offers. Maturity is about knowing when you are ready to take on "all" of what adulthood entails, and until you are able to do so, you are definitely not ready for sex.
