Short stories: Vampires

by Maria Trudalidi

Created on: September 21, 2008

I didn't realize how tired I was until I switched off the laptop and shut it tight. I desperately searched for my bed, my eyes not yet adjusted to the dark. I let my hands explore my surroundings as slowly the shapes of my room became visible. I crawled over to my bed, having tripped over my laundry basket, and gratefully climbed under the down comforter. I snuggled deep under the blankets, finally aware of how cold I got in my tank top and pj's.

That's when I realized it.
I wasn't alone.
Ever so slowly I turned to my side, away from the door, and braced my self to see someone lying there. Even when I expected to see it I had to clasp my hand over my mouth not to scream out.
His skin was pale white, and appeared to glow in the moonlight that shown through my windows. His hair, silver colored, looked like spilled milk, resting in ripples on the other side of my queen sized bed. His eyes were closed, his mouth a thin line resembling a smile. Even in the dark I could tell he was beautiful. I took a shaky breath and with a flutter of lashes his eyes opened. They were as dark as a stormy night's sky. They seemed to search the room, looking at the chair I had abandoned just minutes ago, at my tipped laundry basket, and finally stopping on me. His head turned to the side, and as he looked at me, our eyes met.
I knew right away who he was. A vampire. A beautiful, incredibly vicious, vampire.
His smile grew, and the fangs that were previously hidden under his pale pink lips now glinted pure white at me. I closed my eyes and wished for sleep to take over. This is just a dream, I told my self. When I opened them again, not sure if I should, he wasn't there. I breathed a low sigh of relief. Then a cold hand smoothed over my shoulder. It tickled up and down my neck. Shaking, and holding in my next breath I twisted my head to see him behind me, laying on the very tip of my bed, smiling with pleasure.
"Breathe..." his soothing voice whispered by my ear. I nodded and finally sucked in some needed air.
"Are you going to kill me?" I asked, my voice small so I wasn't sure if he'd heard. He nodded.
"Not in the way you seem to think of death. This will be painless, and you'll be forever mine..." His hand continued its journey down my neck, this time not bothering to put the blanket back around it. His lips brushed mine as he kneeled over me. It became a fierce kiss, as his hands became more restless and I fought for breath, yet for the pleasure to continue. A small moan escaped my chest
