Learn to relax whilst on a date is something that comes with age (apparently).

So coping with anxiety while dating could be a real problem for the youngsters. Believe you and me, anxiety does not go away as you get older.

Mind you having said that, some youngsters of today have so much confidence, but then they have youth on their side, attractiveness and bodies that dont fall south every time they move.

Anxiety is a common factor while dating, as for us ladies, we want to look great, yet to look like we have made no effort (like hours and hours) having hair, nails, facials.

For the guys (well as I am not a guy) I can only speak for the men I have met over the years, that they too go through certain anxieties whilst dating, especially if they are smitten with their new date.

Now why do we get anxious while dating?

When two people meet, and they like each other, the inevitable happens they go out with each other as they feel they want to spend time with each other to get to know one another.

Allsorts of anxieties can kick in, whether you will be able to hold a conversation and be interesting enough to keep your partner amused and wanting more, and wondering "does my bottom look big in this outfit?".

When you go out for dinner, that your table manners (and their's for that matter) are to a certain standard, from my own point of view, you can tell a lot about their manners at the table. Like if you could invite them out to dinner with friends without worrying that they might pea on the table or drink their soup through a straw.

What to wear on a date, I was told once by someone "studied carelessness" unless of course there is extra curricular activities on the agenda, ok that is another topic on Helium I guess ;-0

We ladies too notice a lot more than men tend to think we do and even though we may not say it on the date, it will be brought up at some stage and is an anxiety that we often encounter.

When coping with anxiety while dating, the whole object of the date is to have fun, and the only way you can do this is to relax. Yes it is easier said than done for most of us, but you will have so much more fun if you can learn this technique, rather than worry about silly little details.

So in the future, take a very deep breath, count to ten and exhale and above all

Dating should not be a life threatening experience and in fact it could even change your life forever!
