I would have to say that no matter what Elvis wil always be King. First off, i am 21 yrs old. You can not listen to any music without somehow thinking of Elvis. What Elvis did was pave a new way for young inspiring artists of his time. He took what the "colored" people were doing and made it possible for the "whites" to do and not care what others thought. (please dont take that as racist, it WAS NOT meant to be)
As for younger children being able to name maybe 2 or 3 presidents. I agree 100% with that. I have an 8 yr old brother, he can possibly name give or take 3 of the presidents, but show him a picture of Elvis, low and behold, he knows it..
I was raised on Elvis....ELVIS ONLY, every sunday is what i would wake up to as my dad made breakfast.
In my own mind, Elvis has NOT "left the building" yet. Elvis is everywhere we go, any shows we go to, he started most of it. He basically wrote the book on how to play/perform music. The day music dies...is the day Elvis will "leave the building"
