I think everyone must have experienced this at least once in their lives. You find yourself one day with no toothbrush. The reasons may be various such as an unexpected overnight stay at a friend's house or a layover at an airport. I experienced it first hand, when the airline company lost my luggage and with my luggage was my precious tooth brush. I was so overwhelmed by the whole ordeal that I only gave oral hygiene a thought once I was in the hotel room ready to go to bed. I passed my tongue over my teeth and felt slightly disgusted. I really wanted that smooth feel of clean teeth once again!
I guess this must happen quite often and this is why many hotels now are equipped with small packets of necessities such as razors, hair brushes, mouth wash, tooth paste and tooth brushes. This was what saved me. I bought the tooth paste and tooth brush kit for a couple of dollars and went to bed happily with a fresh, clean mouth.
However, what if the hotel did not carry those kits? What were my options? I remember as a child when I lived in Italy, we used to have a nice green sage bush. My grandma used to tell me that in the old times people used to pass a leaf of sage on their teeth to get them cleaned. I gave it a try, and the sage option became popular for me when we were out for a long day. I would bring some sage leaves along and clean my teeth. The sage leaves made my teeth smooth and it also tasted good. It really mimicked a tooth brush plus it left your breath refreshed. I remember they also used to make sage flavored toothpastes in Italy.
However, finding a bush of sage may be sort of inconvenient if you are in the city. So there must be other resorts. After doing a bit of research I have come up with a collection of possible tooth brush substitutes.
"OH, NO! I FORGOT MY TOOTH BRUSH REMEDIES"
While forgetting your tooth brush may put you in panic mode, nowadays, with superstores such as Walmart open 24 hours, the easiest option would be to pay the store a visit and simply buy a tooth brush and toothpaste. However, in this case, let's pretend there are no Walmarts in the area and no hotels equipped with necessity kits.
1) Carry with you those disposable tooth cleaning wipes
These wipes were created for people on the go. They are great when you want to get that fresh clean sensation after lunch even at work. All you do is pass these wipes along your teeth and they will be smooth and clean again. I have gotten into the habit of carrying them in my purse all the time.
