Horses can be very sensitive and funny creatures despite some people's beliefs that they are simply a working animal. For all horse lovers it becomes obvious after a few meetings with a horse that they are definitely full of personality. For all of us who have ever owned or gotten close to horses we know the truth, they are just like a person that is very head strong and once they have a stand on something, they will not budge. This is something that I had to learn the hard way. She had been sold a few various times before she came into our care and it was then that I first began to notice the change in her.
I had saved for years and finally had enough to have my own horse. Of course being a child and my dad thinking he knew best led us to the horse he "thought" was the right one for me. At first I was very excited because he had finally gave into my want for a horse of my own and when he realized I really could pay for it on my own he allowed me to get one. My dad thought that she was a good horse because she was older, a mare, and had been around children. This meant that he figured she would be the horse we needed. The torment that this horse beheld for me over the next year has made me skittish about purchasing a horse again until my daughter is old enough to fend for herself when near them.
The long year began with 2 perfect weeks, the horse became named Honeysuckle and acted perfectly and didn't have any problems. I had begun to think that she was just playing with me when she nibbled my leg and that she really was going to be a great horse. I then began to notice things that just didn't seem to add up. The first thing that I noticed was that she was a perfect horse as long as my dad,
