The Christmas season is such a wonderful time of year. The spirit of giving is in the air and the shopping centers add to our excitement with their music and decorations. The holidays don't have to cause the financial burden that many allow it to. There are plenty of affordable gifts that can be purchased or hand-crafted that the people on your list are sure to enjoy. Here are ten gift ideas that are under ten dollars to get you started.

1)Photo albums or frames-You can pick up photo albums and frames very inexpensively at your local dollar stores, even Walmart. Find a picture of the two of you and place it in the frame or front page of the album. You can also dig out your craft odds and ends and decorate the frame or album. These make wonderful gifts that the receiver can look at for years to come.

2)Boxed sets-For the women on your list, there are tons of options for bath and beauty sets sold at the bigger stores, like Targetor Walmart. They are in pretty baskets and boxes and many can indeed be found under ten dollars. For the men, there are shaving kits and colognes. If there are people on your list that you go allout for at the fancy department stores, buy something that comes with the free gift and give that to one of your under ten friends or associates.

3)Food gifts-We all eat and around the holidays we all eat more. Why not take a day and set it aside for baking up big batches of Christmas cookies, fudge, and peanut brittle. Arrange the treats nicely on a pretty holiday plate and wrap up in red and green cellophane with a ribbon tying it up at the top. These make especially good gifts for office associates, children's teachers and other people you don't know well, yet like to remember duringthe holidays.

4)Handmade gifts-If you aren't much for cooking, maybe you are a crafter. My grama, for example, knits these bootie slippers that are so cozy and comfy. I would rather have a pair of those than a diamond necklace any day. How about scarves and mittens? Do you make jewelry? How about candles or homemade body oils in pretty containers? Crafts make truly wonderful one of a kind gifts.

5)Books-Many people love nothing more than to snuggle up with a good book on a cold winter day. Books can get pricey, but there are so many used book stores that carry high quality items for excellent prices. Most people purchase books to only read them once, so they are hardly used at all.
