The Jerusalem Cross carries not only a visual beauty but a deep historical significance.
Also known as the "crusaders' cross" is a Christian symbol represented by a large Greek cross with four smaller sized crosses in each of the large cross' corners. It served as a symbol of the Latin Kingdom of Jerusalem and is used in Georgia's national flag design. The smaller crosses are believed to represent the four directions in which Christ's teachings traveled from Jerusalem. It is also believed to represent the four books of the Gospel. All five of the crosses symbols are said to portray the passion of Christ representing each of His five wounds on Good Friday.

While often worn by religious figures, the Jerusalem cross jewelry has also gained popularity on the commercial jewelry scene. The design allows for a more modern yet historical take on the everyday crosses worn by so many Christians today.

Jerusalem Cross Pendant can be purchased in a variety of metals including silver, gold, and platinum. The silver Jerusalem cross is the most common in the marketplace with the white gold version also readily available. You may also be able to find more ornate versions of the cross pendant which contain diamonds, gemstones and for the budget conscious, cubic zirconia. Another way to vary the pendant's appearance is by its chain, which can range from the more delicate to thick metals or even leather.

Keep in mind most jewelry stores may not have a Jerusalem cross pendant readily available. They can usually be special ordered or even designed and made by the jeweler. The pendant and even Jerusalem cross pins can almost always be located for a speedier purchase at a Christian store. Also, many places run out of stock on this piece particularly around the holiday season, try to plan ahead for your purchase.

The Jerusalem Cross Pendant is a great gift for a religious person in your life such as a friend, fellow church member, religion teacher or mentor. You can often also personalize the cross pendant with the inscription of the person's name on the back, or a favorite religious saying or bible passage, depending on the pendant's size.
