Deep within
shadows from the past
tunnels into the future
how long does it last
Lights fading to darkness
people passing no one to care
holding in tears of loneliness
face pursing in despair

praying fervently for relief
crossing the bridge of life
almost stolen by the thief
stricken deep within by pain
grasping simple punishment
hoping it will go away
knowing it's not Heaven sent
His forgiveness a prayer away
thinking the wrong is too much
even in his infinite grace
I reach but he cannot touch
realizing from my conscience
or perhaps it came from above
reaping may still occur
yet forgiveness comes from his love
Just as Peter sinking in the sea
twas not from God releasing his hand
but from his own doubt deep within
when faith prevails he can stand

how long does it last
Lights fading to darkness
people passing no one
