It's happened again, your dentist wants to do another root canal. But, first, you need a scaling because your "pockets" are too deep. And you have two more cavities that are going to have to be filled, but don't worry, they can do it today!
We've all heard way too much from the dentist about gingivitis and cavities and it seems that root canals are all the rage, these days. Fortunately, there are a lot of natural things that you can do to prevent those miserable dental visits and keep your teeth and gums healthy.
For starters, that unassuming dentist probing around in your mouth knows very well that fluoride is the greatest culprit to the destruction of your teeth. It's in everything, our canned foods, water, soft drinks, medications, everything that takes water to process, contains fluoride. And Fluoride is the number one destroyer of your teeth and bones. It erodes the enamel from your teeth, exposing them to a host of other toxins and chemicals that are in our medications and food. Fortunately, there are dentists who are working to decrease our exposure to Fluoride; most insist that we use Fluoride toothpaste.
While we can't do much to combat our exposure to Fluoride other than use a water filter or grow our own foods, we can do a lot to counteract its effects.
Research into indigenous peoples throughout the world has shown that with the right kind of nutrition, you can avoid those cavities and root canals along with the x-rays, which expose you to cancer-causing radiation and the dentist's drugs.
For centuries the early Egyptians used powdered Jett, a stone that was pulverized and mixed with water to treat tooth decay and pain. The herb Myrrh was used to aid in the healing of gums and to stop bleeding that can occur with gum disease. But people are beginning to use Myrrh again and today there are many mouthwashes and toothpastes that contain Myrrh.
Fat-soluble vitamins like, A, D, E, and K are found in almost all green leafy plants and vegetables. Mustard, Kale, Swiss chard, spinach, broccoli are all packed with these vitamins. So are wild fish and shellfish. Animal organs like liver; kidney and other internal organs can also provide these nutrients.
You'll find vitamin E in grains like wheat, rye, barley and oats. However, processed grains vitamin content is greatly depleted by the chemicals used in the processing. Eating whole, freshly ground grains that are not processed is the best source of E vitamin, as well as, others.
