Tips on marketing a child care business in your home

As with any business, a good marketing plan can be the key to great success in your company. Marketing gets the word out in your community, that you have a service or product to provide to the consumer. Without a good marketing plan, business could be very slow and affect your earning capabilities.

It's no different when you are operating a childcare business in your home. Parents in your community need to know that you have a service they can benefit from. It also helps them to decide if "your" childcare business is the one they might prefer over the competition in your neighborhood.

DIFFERENT WAYS THAT YOU CAN MARKET YOUR IN-HOME CHILD CARE BUSINESS:

1) Post notices or flyers in your local community center. Most cities and towns have a community hall or arena where people will often leave messages on a free-to-use bulletin board. Sometimes someone might be selling an item, advertise yard sales or are looking for a lost pet. These boards get used quite frequently, so your notice is sure to be seen by those perusing the bulletin boards.

2) Be sure that your notice is legible, and maybe even colorful, with strong bold lettering so that it stands out amongst all the other notices on the bulletin board. By using your own home computer and printer, you can create a very noticeable, and attractive poster or flyer.

3) You can post an advertisement in your local newspaper's classified section. There should be a heading for your specific need. This way, readers who are looking for childcare services, won't have to read through pages and pages of advertisements. They will spot your notice at a glance. Use key words to get your advertisement noticed over the others, such as licensed, caring home, nutritional meals, fun activities.

4) A lot of parents who are looking for a childcare center might have children who attend the local school. They might either be looking to have someone mind their child(ren) during off school hours, or possibly have younger children as well. You can visit your local schools and leave a handful of notices with the office. If school staff becomes aware of anyone looking for a daycare service, they can give them one of your notices.

5) By word of mouth is also a good way to have your community know that you are in the business of providing childcare. Often times, you can mention to a friend who might know a friend who's looking for a daycare center. Word can get around your community quite quickly, as so many parents are in search of a good childcare
