When all is said and done, in actuality, George W. Bush will be known as the President who made "TERROR" a household word (in EVERY household) and an international reality, and Dick Cheney will be known as the Vice President with whom you didn't want to go hunting and who was always and forever in an "undisclosed location".

In the larger picture, these men were responsible for the greatest downfall this country has ever seen. Between them, the deficit arose from a (Democratic created) surplus to being the worst in American history - and represents more spending than in ALL the administrations that came before them, COMBINED. Nearing the end of this lackluster Presidency, we see the largest banks in the country - some amongst the largest in the world - FAILING. We see large corporations being bailed out at taxpayers' expense - when the Government's choices of action are absolutely responsible for their impending bankruptcies. Of course, these men will make their exit long before the true results are seen of their completely inexcusable mishandling of our rapport with the world at large and undermined economy.

One of the reporters on the news today said, "The President is not in control of the economy, he does not control the cost of oil; the President isn't going to get anyone out there a job." I beg to differ. He may not have a DIRECT hand in the management of these issues, but he is directly responsible for the EFFECT that his decisions and actions have on the WORLD economy and how other countries are reacting to his policies and decisions, which is in turn affecting our homeland economy, security, and general morale. There are companies that are having to close their doors simply because they cannot afford the fuel to continue in their businesses - this is a direct result of our President's assault on the oil producing countries, as well as his ineffective handling of the many natural disasters that this country has seen in the last several years.

SPYING? In some sense, this is the least of our worries; but at the same time, it is also a complete violation of the privacy of this country's citizens. His authorization of warrantless eavesdropping on American citizens in the name of "National Security" is nothing more than a light varnish to cover his own personal sense of paranoia, and also designed to try and disguise his deeply seated megalomania. How listening to private citizens' phone calls, reading their email, capturing their texts, is going to help to apprehend a man (Osama Bin Laden), who may well be dead (there have been no credible reports of his living since 2001), ill, or at the very least, holed up in a cave somewhere in Pakistan or Afghanistan, is beyond me. But, then, when you are a paranoid individual (like Bush), you tend to see the enemy in the faces of ALL the people around you, so you can trust NO ONE.

When will this country realize that the majority of the rest of the world is moving on and learning to embrace each other's differences? No one wants terrorism - in ANY form - in their life. But the very act of hunting down in order to kill, devastating whole cities, displacing millions, causing fear and distrust, creating prejudices, constantly seeking the "enemy" in order to destroy him, is never going to change things for the better. Until we learn that love is the key to peace, until we learn that peace is the key to prosperity, we are lost.
