Question: Are electric cars the answer to high gasoline prices?
This in effect is a double edge sword and could be answered with both yes or no, first and foremost; the Hydrogen fuel cells used today are filled with Hydrogen that is produced as a by-product of making gasoline in the conventional distilling manor. This production method creates more toxins and pollutants than burning the gasoline does. However there are several ways of producing Hydrogen that are not as costly and produce much lower amounts of pollution. The point is, why produce something that is worse than what it replaces. And if the electric car industry did finally take the initiative and do something about the problem what would happen to the massive stocks of gasoline that would inevitably pile up?
Most; in fact almost all electric cars are what is referred to as electric assist and not electric only, all of the worlds manufacturers of cars decided across the board to suspend electric only R&D in 2006 or 2007. The reason; and this only what I have found in research for myself: is that Oil Barons and CEO's of major Oil Cartels had launched a plan of action by purchasing large amounts of stocks in the Automotive Industry. Not enough for a controlling vote mind you, but enough stock for a dissenting vote to dissuade an initiative to develop electric only Research and Development. If the new age brought about a mass production of Electric only cars it would mean hundreds of thousands of workers would be out of work and this is where it gets touchy. Oil Production employs millions of people world wide from locating, well drilling, distilation, sales, to final transportation to the gas stations.
The trains you see everyday are electric assist in that they are powered
by extremely large Diesels, (ALCO, American Locomotive Company), and they produce 3,000 to 5,836 gross Horsepower each. This powers a generator which in turn powers an electric motor. The principle is called Diesel/Electric Indirect Drive. Electric assist cars are similar in that it can power the car directly or indirectly, where as electric only is from battery cells, that are recharged by solar energy chargers, home and road side charging systems. This would create jobs by the need of recharging stations very much like the gas station we have today. The Oil Industry in the United States and Canada exceeds a Billion dollars a day and the Oil Cartels and Tycoons are not going to go down without a fight, after all they are getting so
