Moral misconceptions in the Christian church

Alcohol is an intoxicating substance which excites an individual, and gives an individual a feeling of well being.

In the bible Solomon said that it acts like a medicine to ones soul. Drinking alcohol is one controversial issue in the Christian faith. Some Christian doctrines believe that is totally un-acceptable, while some says it is accepted provided that one is not drunk. But let's see if drinking alcohol is a sin in the sight of God.

The doctrines of abstinence from alcohol may seem wise because it brings about devotion, humility and severe body discipline, but they have no effect when it comes to conquering a person's evil thought and desires as said in the bible in Colossians 2vs23. in that same chapter of verses 16 to 17, the bible make us to know that you should not let anyone condemn you for what you eat or drink or for not celebrating certain holy days or new moon ceremonies or Sabbaths, for these rules where only shadows of the real thing, Christ himself. And in verse 22 of that same chapter the bible told us that these rules are mere human teachings that are gone us soon as we use them. This is well written in the bible and sometimes it is wondered why people would prefer to be more holy than God who has given the inspiration to write the bible.

Sometimes I hear Christian brothers who drinks defend themselves from the condemnation of their fellow Christian brothers saying that the bible did not say that we should not drink but says we should not be drunk, and they support their arguement by saying that after all Jesus himself turned water into wine.
But these brothers accusing them argue that the wine Jesus turned water into was not alcoholic.

In the book of Matthew 11vs18 to 19 Jesus saying to the crowed " for John the Baptist did not drink wine and he often fasted and you say he is demon possessed, and I the son of man feast and drink, and you say; hw is a glutton and a drunkard, and a friend of the worst sort of sinners but wisdom is shown to be right by what results from it" what I want to draw out here is that the common drink then used for feast is referred to as wine used in many occasions in the bible. Jesus said John the Baptist never drank wine and always fasted, but now Jesus said about himself that he the son of man feast and drink and the people said that he is a glutton and a drunkard, and a friend of the worst sort of sinners.

If we to ask ourselves this question. Who is a glutton? And who is a drunkard? I want us to know that if Jesus was not taking alcohol or seen taking alcohol he would not have been called a drunkard. Of course this those not necessarily mean that Jesus was actually a drunkard; this can be seen as an exaggeration. Jesus did not say that their has never been a time that he drank alcohol, but he said wisdom is shown to be right by what results from it.

If course he drinks alcoholic wine but he never could have been drunk, since the bible is against drunkenness. In 1 Corinthians 6vs10 Paul said thieves, greedy people, drunkards, abusers and swindlers none of these will have a share in the kingdom of God.

Finally, reading the book of Romans chapter 14, we will understand fully that it is wrong to judge someone on what one eat or drink and also on how one who thinks it is good to drink should behave. Verse 3 of Romans chapter 14 states, those who think it is all right to eat anything must not look down on those who wont eat and those who wont eat certain food must not condemn those who do. For God has accepted them. And verse 4 said, who you to condemn Gods servant. They are responsible to the lord, so let him tell whether they are right or wrong. The lord power will help them do as they should.
