Possible reasons for leaving a current job

Most people who work probably spend more time at work than they do at home.

Let's say the average working day starts at the time you get up, including your commuting and then the 7+ hours a day in the office. On an average 5 days a week, although I know a lot of people now tend to do 5+ days a week.

If however you are unhappy in your home life, you do something about it, whether it be moving, divorce, decorating. Whatever it takes to alleviate the problem you will do it.

Possible reasons for leaving a current job are not that easy to do especially when it may involve financial reasons, job security (and let's face it, in the present climate at the moment, no job is secure).

If you think about the reasons for leaving a job could be:

1. Bored

2. Been there too long and no room for maneuver

3. Salary & perks not that wonderful

4. Bad relationships with fellow colleagues (including the boss)

5. Travel time to work.

6. Relocation/Redundancy

The list could be endless, but you are looking for possible reasons to leave. If you are not happy, you have to say truthfully to your self what is the main reason.

Leaving a current job very abruptly could prove fatal. If you have a mortgage or even rent to pay, you have to make sure that you have sufficient funds to cover this, especially if you have left a job without securing another one first.

I always remember someone telling me that to find another job whilst in a job is always a better option and never leave your present employer under a cloud to go to your next job. So if your in work and want to move on, believe me it is better this way than to be unemployed (especially in this present climate) looking for another job, you will have regular money coming in and will have a work ethic in practice.

All jobs are a learning curve, for reasons such as

1. Working conditions

2. What experience you have gained

3. Things you want to do more with in your career that your previous job would probably not have given you

4. Team playing

Again the list is exhaustive.

If you have any doubts in your mind as to your job, and the possible reasons for leaving it, write them down. The pros and cons.

We all know that Monday morning blues can make you think "I hate my job" especially if you wake up and look out of the window and it is pouring with rain. I don't know many people who have not thought the same and just turn over in their beds and don't bother to show up. Remember you are not irreplaceable.

We all have bad days, that is life, but if your day is a persistently bad day with regards to your current job, then it is probably time to move on, but just remember, that sometimes the grass is not always as green on the other side of the fence, than where you are now. Let's face it right now you are probably safer staying put!
