Poetry: Sin

by Chuck Maddock

Sin

When I started to sin, I thought I could win
When a problem was near, I would begin
To find a way to cheat, and thus compete
In a way that would not, ever be caught
Leading to advanced, trickery enhanced

Now I am a master of fraudulent planing
I can take your money or your first floor landing
With nary a worry as to your condition apart
For I have no qualms, nor bleeding heart
I smile and take pride, as if nothing to hide

It is now so long, that I have gone wrong
I am so clever, in harming endeavor
I have rode my guile, for quite a while

But now I have bought, a redeeming thought
Where will I lie, when my time has past by

What must I do, to show that I am through
With my sinful ways, for the rest of my days
I seek to remain, in our promised domain
I wholeheartedly regret, the life that I set
Any redeeming task, I will do as asked
