Shona was aged 17 years and feeling rather lonely out there in a world she never fully understood. Alone she decided to take a walk to view the surrounding areas of her home. On that day she met Philip who seemed very charming and then went with him for coffee in local cafe. Her nightmare started there.
Philip was around the same age as Shona but he had different kinds of friends. They all drank, smoked, took drugs etc but when Philip was with Shona she didn't know what real things Philip got up to.He was always pretending to be the most perfect gentleman Shona could ever have met.
After seeing Philip for a few months they decided to get married and start a family.
They then had a boy and a girl who were a joy to be around since Shona had no family left of her own. Mother and father had died young and she had no brothers or sisters.
Philip then started being a bully and with him staying out late this became a long battle for her to fight. Was he having an affair? Was he gambling? Was he just out with friends? Shona was never to know because when she asked the bullying would start some more. She kept working hard but the pressure got harder and harder to face so one day she fled with both her children and never looked back.
In the years she was married to Philip she suffered pain, grief and very seldom felt happines which she had searched for since childhood.
At the age of 25 years when she fled her children were still young but then she found happiness.
Shona found a new job, new man called John who was very kind and considerate and even found peace in herself to take up new hobbies such as keep fit, knitting and occassional socialising with friends.
John was a fair bit older than Shona and had more experience of life. He already had a family of his own from a previous marriage that had gone wrong many years before.
They treated Shona's children like their own brother and sister and played together, ate together and even found the same interests.
John became a sole mate as well as a husband to Shona and helped her to achieve goals in her life that she had only ever dreamed of being with Philip.
In that time Shona felt all emotions a person can feel. Anger, happiness, sadness, lonliness, fear and other feelings besides.
The moral of this story is is that if you are unhappy in life make that move to find happiness because if you don't life will pass you by and you will always wonder was was around the corner.
