You can not stick to a particular pattern while decorating kid's room. There is no prescribed models and themes to design kid's room. You can try different themes for kid's room so that it look interesting for the kids. But you should not paint the kid's room in just plain colors. You can try different innovative ideas while painting and decorating kid's room.

The first thing to be taken care of while decorating your kid's room is painting. Don't just stick to the traditional painting patterns you use for all the rooms of the house.

It is a good idea to paint kid's room in bright colors than sober ones which we adults like. Kids like to have a flamboyant ambiance in their room and this can be brought through bright colors. Besides this, just think if you like sober colors if you were young.

It is better to try designs through colors rather than just plain painting of colors. You can try splash colors with splashes of stars or any funny designs which your kids love. You can also paint some designs on the plain walls. These designs can be anything from animals to flowers, cartoons to famous kid's characters. Kids just love such paints on the walls of their room.

After painting, one has to think of the furniture in the room. Don't buy furniture based on your mood. Though the kids are your kids, they may not have the same taste as you have. Besides this they are young and what they love need not be loved by a matured mind. Instead of having long term plans, just go for the furniture your kids love, after all their happiness is your happiness too. Take your kids along with you while going to buy furniture and take their opinions into consideration. If you give value to their opinions, they never mind compromising in some cases.

Kids love the beds and chairs to be bit funky in their sense. I don't think any kid loves the normal bed on which we sleep. They like to sleep on beds in car shape, or any other shape which is not 'normal'. Buy any of suck beds and don't invest much on them as they don't come to use after some time. Similarly the chairs, table you use in their rooms should also suit their taste and their age.

After all these things are taken care of, think about bedding, cushions, pillows and other materials. While buying any clothing for kid's room, go for designed cloth rather than plain or striped ones. In the designs too, go for cartoons and animals.

In any case it is good to take the kid's advice and buy anything. In this way you can decorate kid's room as they like it to be.
