Poetry: Give in

by N. Cullen.

Created on: September 17, 2008

Please,

let the rope go
run through your fingers
until they burn.

I have a good grip on it now
pulling my direction
until you burn.

Should I give in or should you?

All of me is yours, you had me whole
waiting for a sign
of love on the other side.

You never gave me your heart, only a peice
holding back
from my end, and the pain of losing it all.

Are you lost forever, I ask,

knowing that forever isn't real
only defined by love and death
life continues.

I will see her again.

I hope to have the strength to wave,
instead of the half smile,
that I expect from her.

I will half smile.

Pretending like we are distant friends,
instead of lost love[r]s
I ask one question.

Can you love again?

My attitude is dogmatic, screaming 'yes',
but logic on this one seems more sound
than emotional thought, or a subjective perspective.

The old argument, logic vs. love.

Where logic shows the failures,
and love shows the hope,
giving in...

to love again.
