Yes, because it s ridiculous to take these fatwas seriously, particularly when these fatwa's are NOW against Disney characters like Mickey Mouse. Besides, if I were a Muslim I'd begin to wonder what was wrong with Mickey Mouse and Barbie- aside from that Mohammed Teddy Bear in Sudan who was probably executed by now.

Fatwa's are an order to murder. This is the 21st century, not the 7th century - and I refuse to appease a desert religion which wants the world to "submit" to their rules. The French Revolution changed the world, yes, it did happen and we are thus expected to be more enlightened as a people. Unfortunately, there are nuts who cannot accept historical facts and reality. Thus, some cartoonist has to hide because he satirized Mohammed while the film maker of a sane film called "Fitna" is hunted for making art. Salman Rushdie who wrote "The Satanic Verses" has become a hermit all because some loony bin Islamic leader issued a fatwa against him. I agree with Foxbaron, that it is time that we stop tolerating this blatantly barbaric "threats". Instead, perhaps we should send the one issuing the "fatwa" to the nearest psychotic facility.

Murder is never justified even in the name of religion. The 7th century is past and the same rules cannot be applied to the 21st century or else, Islamics should not use the internet because it is infidel's technology which made it possible for the internet to exist. While banning Barbie's they succumb to modern technology which to my mind makes the Amish, at least, less hypocrites than they are. The truth is that these Islamic leaders who issue fatwas are either crazies or plain hypocrites. No one is stopping the Amish from living the 18th century "lifestyle" much as no one will stop Islamics from living the 7th century lifestyle as long as they mind their own business and do not cause violence and violation of individual rights of those who do not wish to appease them. The real Muslim I can admire is one who can live in peace in his 7th century dreamworld without having to inflict harm on others.

Islam cannot be truth. First of all, the Koran is not a well written book. In comparison to the Old Testament, at least there is some human element in the latter particularly in the play of words of the "Song of Solomon". Though the Old Testament may be considered a violent book, it does have proverbs and its followers are sane enough NOT to force their old rules on today's society. Based on manner by which the book was plagiarized, it becomes apparent that it is not a reliable source of any authority except bad literature.

Fatwas fuel extremism and hate because they violate human life and the human free thinking. It is like having a "nanny" to tell "kids" everything they should do including how they should should dress, how they should treat their wives and what hand they should use for eating. For an adult to be accepting basic instructions from these so-called Islamic leaders is insulting to whatever intelligence their followers may (or may not) possess.

Fatwa's violate human life and feminist rights. If for that alone I can only suggest that those who issue these fatwa's practice what they preach first and go to some desert and take a final vacation to paradise. If they have enough guts to do so, they would be doing this planet a favor.
