The Door

The dark still closet brings me comfort and peace
The one the who once loved is the one I now fear.
The door I did not walk into frightens me,
I seek the quiet darkness so my boys can't hear.

The loneliness that surrounds me allows my repose
The blanket brings imagined shelter, yet he is always near,
I seek the quiet darkness so my boys can't hear.
The life I lead never soothed me.

I have to get my boys away, they are all I cherish.
The door I did not walk into frightens me,
The corner I once needed no longer brings me peace
He took my boys away they are no longer here.
The door I did not walk into frightens me.

The loss I feel will not bring me solace
The loneliness now closes in all around and crushes me.
And still the door I did not walk into will forever frighten me,
I still seek the darkness and pray my boys never fear the door I did not walk into.
