Yes, I would wear a pre-owned wedding gown. In fact I am going to wear one when I get married next year. My fiance and I are on a very tight budget $2,000 for everything including honeymoon is our upper range financially.

I lucked out on the wedding dress. His coworker gave me her dress. It is a heavily beaded tank tank top style with scoop neck. dress with faux buttons running all the way down the back to the end of the train. We are I am assuming similar in size since we have never met. Despite being a little long, I'm a very short person, I'll only have to get hemmed and fitted in the chest. It fits beautifully at the waist. Bonus, I already had my wedding jewelry which fresh water pearls and lapis lazuli. They are a perfect match for the dress.

So I got a beautiful dress for free due to the kindness of my fiance's coworker. So money that would have went to my dress can now be allocated somewhere else. Buying or receiving a used dress in good condition can save a couple a lot of money with the wedding expenses. Your wedding is only one day representing the journey a couple starts together. While I recommend to not go tacky a pre-owned used dress is nothing to put your nose up at. After all what is more important what you are wearing or what the day represents.

You only wear a wedding dress once and the money can go to better uses like the ceremony and reception site. Perhaps there was a little something extra you wanted at your wedding and now that you paid less or in my case received for free your dress you can now afford that extra something that before you had to cross off. Better yet, put it to the honeymoon. Now that I am not spending money on the dress we can afford a slightly more expensive room at the B&B we are going to stay at. We did want to have a sailboat and island wedding and reception but even with saving money on the dress it is still out of our reach. So the room at the B&B it is. Historical St. Augustine is a really romantic city.

Another way to look at it is, what if the dress belongs to a family member on either your side or his side. It could have sentimental value for the giver. So, take the dress, alter it, and wear it. Not only did you save money but you made someone happy. Especially good for staying on the good side of the in-laws. Of course one can always say no but say it nicely and have a really good reason as to why you won't wear it especially if you have not bought a dress yet.
