Denise - Men are ridiculous!

People are ridiculous.

I'm going crazy. I wish Frank had never come into my life to begin with.

Yeah, it definitely sounds like he's sending you mixed signals. What are you going to do?

I don't know. He can't even be my friend. I wouldn't want to date him even if he didn't have a girlfriend. So it's like ever time I try to be friendly, I feel like he's reading it completely wrong, so I back off. Then he kicks back in with the girlfriend.

Wow. He has issues.

Yeah, and can you believe he thinks he wants to 'settle down?'

Sometimes it just takes the right woman.

Well, it's not going to be me, that's for sure! I couldn't live with a man that flighty. Just think. Can you imagine what would have happened if I'd actually dated him?

You might have found out he's a really nice guy.

You sound like my mother! But I never would have seen this side of him - what happens when he's put to the test and experiences a little pressure? He just cracks! After the kind of pressure he's put me under? And he can't handle just a tiny bit?

Men are really wimps...

Oh yeah. Big cry babies is more like it. So I guess I'll just have to crack down on him even more if he's ever going to get anywhere.

"Yes! I ran into him at the library, and we talked!"

"Girl, you are absoultely glowing!"

Selena flushed.

"Well, what did he say? Did he say he wants to work on things?"

"No. It was a little awkward."

"It's been a while. That's probably natural."

"He just wanted to know what I was doing there. Research for an article, of course."

"What was he doing there?"

"Returning something. He's so cute!" Now Selena could tell she was grinning from ear to ear, and she didn't care. She spent enough time being critical and realistic about where things were with Gabe. Being happy now would help her next time she was faced with a character forming decision about what step to take next with him.

Selena felt like a different person than when they had been married. Even if he did want to make things work, it wouldn't be like just fixing things that had been wrong before. They were really going to have to start over and see if things would go anywhere based on who they were now.

Selena seemed right about Denise's relationship with Nick. She didn't talk much about Tom, so maybe there was not much going on there. It was interesting to Selena that he was bringing her mother up. Did he want to remind her mother of what a great guy he was? Selena was
