On a mission I am. Off to purchase that beautiful bottle of wine that everyone at the party will say "Ooh" and "Ahh" to. I am seeing it in my mind, the praise, the feeling of accomplishment, the knowledge that I and I alone succeeded in making our party the hit of the holidays with the purchase of this one bottle of wine!

Hah, was I in for a surprise! After about a half hour and several of the store clerks asking if I need assistance (they looked like they were under the legal drinking age and I was certainly not going to take advice from a youngster,right?), I decided that the process of elimination was needed. First, pick a color. Second, pick a type i.e. merlot, etc. Third, pick a country or a state. Fourth, keep in mind that just 'cause it's pretty doesn't mean it's good. Yes, sadly, this was the process I used to pick my wine. I was a little overwhelmed, thank you.

Lo and behold, I got through the process and in less than two hours I was walking out the door with a beautiful bottle of red wine, from the state in which I live (yes, I am sentimental that way), and with the plainest, ugliest label I could find!

Guess what, turned out to be the best wine I've tasted in years! Even though no one else but myself decided to go for wine that night I will cherish the memory that I, just me, actually bought wine without the help of professionals!
